INTRODUCTION BY FELIPE CORRÊA

    When Frederico Rabelo invited me to get to know his ideas for his second tattooing season, it was precisely to his work and study place that he took me. There, as the artist spoke about his project, one could trace the thinking behind them by simply looking around, for reproductions of artworks and photographs of all sorts had been hung on the walls and organised in groups that resembled an image atlas.

    Surrounding his studio, those images revealed not only the tattoo artist’s intentions for each of his project but also the path he had taken. From old representations of the crucified Christ he passes, for example, to human bodies in relation to straight lines and from them to bodies and objects being hung. In his image selection, Frederico Rabelo reflects upon the way man interacts with the world, nature and divinity.

    This season has its genesis in the observation and reunion of those images. The following texts and albums, written and assembled by the artist himself, correspond exactly to this mind-set. There, each group of images constitutes a tattoo project. This is how the new works will be created during this season: as new image formed from specific repertoires selected by the tattoo artist.
