RECTILINEAR
Human bodies, as well as everything that belongs to nature, have organic inimitable shapes. What is created by mankind, however, often assumes extremely rare, if not unnatural, perfect forms. By creating them, we assert our presence in the world, we experience, understand and interact with reality. Our quest here will be to explore and reinterpret the interactions between man (or the human body) and straight lines or geometric planes. In RECTILINEAR, such relations will be observed in different times.
KEEP BREATHING
The main interest of this image selection is the visual contrast between bodies and the rectilinear lines and planes, which intensified by the human activities depicted in each picture. The implementation of the final tattoo, as well as its interaction with the body and the resulting effect will be taken into account.

THE FACTORY
As human beings, we are capable of producing things and what we make gives shape to the reality in which we exist. RECTILINEAR forms are employed by humankind as tools, devices, extensions and optimisations of our own bodies in order to accomplish a specific task.

THE VENUM AND THE PLAGUE
Everything that has a physical existence in our planet is perceived – consciously or unconsciously – in relation to our own body and its scale. RECTILINEAR forms can be found as displays of the human body that reveal the human condition – for better or worse – in situations of prominence and glory or precariousness and humiliation.

A WORLD OF MAKE-BELIEVE FOR A HARD-WORKING MEN
This project will be more focused on the general reverberation of these images rather than on a particular one. Here, our goal is to show humans and their workforce in relation to RECTILINEAR forms in tattoos that will take the verticality and horizontality of the body into account.

PERSEVERANCE
The drawing by the Spanish artist José de Ribeira is the main reference for this project. The other two images will play the role of a visual thermometer. We aim to create a reinterpretation of Ribeira’s sketch combined with the visual power of Aivazovskii’s painting and the relation between stability, degradation and misbalance in Ristelhueber’s photograph, in consonance with the moral a psychologic aspects that tie the depicted figures to humankind itself.
